Shows
The German Shepherd Dog
Club and its shows and trials is proudly sponsored by
Masterfoods Pet Care. This has
been a very successful partnership for over 8 years. The club
conducts one Championship Show and one Open show during the year. We
also conduct the annual State Breed Assessment in mid September each
year where breeders and exhibitors have the opportunity to have
their dogs assessed, graded and promoted based on their respective
bloodlines.
The Championship show is
normally held on the second weekend of July of each year and the
Open Show is usually held in February each year an. Every five years
the GSDCQ Inc hosts the National Show on behalf of the National
Council. This show is conducted once a year within Australia and
each year it is held in a different state.

The National Show
attracts exhibitors from all states of Australia and New Zealand.
The show often includes visitors from other countries who make it
part of their Australian holiday. All
shows are held at the Canine Control Council show grounds, King
Avenue, Durack.
Breed Surveys
The Club also holds approximately three Breed Surveys
a year at Durack and two in regional areas as required.
The object of the Survey is to promote
and offer guidance for the uniform development of the German
Shepherd Dog Breed and to improve its inherent working qualities.
Dogs and bitches shall be awarded classification in either Breed
Survey Class 1 or Breed Survey Class 11 if it is expected that they
will contribute to the overall improvement of the breed in
Australia. The following Basic Criteria are assessed during Survey -
Measurements, Teeth, Testicles, Character & Temperament, Gun Test,
‘A’ stamp for Hips, ‘Z’ Stamp for Elbows, Tattoo Verification.

Obedience Training & Domestic Control Classes
The Club holds classes every Wednesday night at
Durack where your German Shepherd can, through positive reward
and motivation learn to be a well mannered and obedient part of
your family. Contact

you and your dog become a well-trained team who are fit for the show
ring under all conditions.
