The GSDCQ (Inc) is affiliated with and abides by the Constitution for Incorporated clubs provided by the Canine Control Council of Qld. In order to function, conduct shows and events the GSDCQ Inc. follow this Constitution. We are also affiliated with the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia. The GSDCQ Inc. recommends its members to become “Responsible Dog Owners “and to be pro-active in the promotion of such ideas. The GSDCQ Inc. also promotes the ideas and aims of the GSDCA in response to the Dangerous Dog Act, whereby the German Shepherd breed is discriminated against purely on the basis of its name. The GSDCQ Inc. aims to promote ‘punish the deed, not the breed ‘in response to the Dangerous Dog Act.

The German Shepherd Dog Club of Queensland Inc. (GSDCQ Inc.) was established in 1957 by a group of enthusiasts who wished to promote the breeding, showing, trialing and ownership of the purebred registered German Shepherd dog. Good fellowship and sportsmanship amongst members and those participating in or attending exhibitions/breed surveys/information seminars is encouraged by the GSDCQ Inc.

Members of the club live in all areas of the State and the Club Executive and Committee recognize member’s breed contribution in regional areas. Country member’s participation in GSD National Council schemes is acknowledged and appreciated. Local members attendance at Trials and shows is sometimes the only way the general public can view the true German Shepherd Dog and this continues to be helpful in promoting a positive image to the rural community. We can help new members contact groups in their area by contacting the Secretary . If you live in Mackay our club representativeis Stephanie Allen and if you live in Townsville, our club representative is Gary Hickey. Members are also active in breed promotion in the Maryborough, Bundaberg, Rockhampton areas of the State.
